Dyscalculia

Some individuals have a challenge understanding the concept
of quantity. They will perhaps not be able to understand the
concept that different groups have a number representing the
number of objects in the group.
For example, 3 books is the same group quantity as 3
chairs.
They can also fail to understand that an abstract group or
sound has a number attached to it.
For example, 3 ideas, 3 wishes or 3 notes.
The Moving Numeracy programme is based on the importance of
movement and an awareness of specific cognitive
development.
The programme provides a framework that begins to resolve
such concepts as:
- a fear of maths
- understanding number
- memory for number bonds and tables
- sequencing
- identifying directions such as left and right
- telling the time
- perceptive skills
The Moving
Numeracy program is the ideal starting point for
teachers and educators who want to better support students
who live with the challenge of dyscalculia.
